Give a helping hand and donate whatever you can afford. Your generosity will go to help the elderly and diasabled adults in Broward County. We need as much help as you can give.
Your donation goes to providing such daily tasks that include cleaning, cooking, shopping, bathing, and dressing. So that our clients may reside in their own home to live independently and with dignity. Read about Christine Kent below. Christine is a stellar client who gives hope to all.
Christine Kent was the victim of a horrible crime that left her changed forever. On August 4, 2007 she was attacked by a stalker at her home and left paralyzed after being shot through the back and run over with an SUV. Her attacker received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Sheer will, support, determination, and encouraging others keep Christine pushing forward. The “Spinal Cord Injury Support Group”, at HealthSouth in Sunrise, helped her to adjust and set goals and now she is able to help others to do the same. She remains positive despite her pain and disability, and believes that every day is a gift and life is a blessing. Christine now enjoys Handcycling and has completed 6 full Marathons with “Achilles International of S. Florida”. She keeps active thanks to the help and support of the “Broward Homebound Program” which provides a personal Aid to assist her with daily tasks. Christine is enrolled in the first of its kind program with the “Center for Independent Living of Broward Leadership Program” which is geared for helping to improve the lives of those who are disabled regarding a broad range of issues. She speaks regularly to the youth at risk in the “Community Justice Program”, through the Broward Sheriff’s Office, to promote disability awareness and strives to encourage and motivate them to make the most of their lives. Christine received an “Advocate of Distinction” Award at the 20th Anniversary party of the ADA from the ”Center for Independent Living Broward” for helping to make a difference in the lives of others living with disabilities. She also received an Award in 2010 from the Ft Lauderdale Business & Professional Women’s Club for “Woman of the Year”. Christine’s drive to help others is even greater now that she firmly believes she survived by a miracle, and the grace of God.
